Abstract
Sports exchange and cooperation between South and North Korea have been sensitively affected by political vicissitude without substantial importance until recently. Current President of South Korea, Roh Moo-Hyun, is maintaining the Comprehension Policy that former president Kim Dae Jung established towards North Korea, as a result, the frequency of sports exchanges and cooperation are increasing gradually. Since inter-Korean sports exchanges and cooperation are in their initial stage, they could undergo the process of trial and error. Nevertheless, it is desirable to have enough time and patience in order to develop them. Especially, it is important to build mutual confidence between South and North Korea. To that end, I posit that consistent exchange and cooperation might help us achieve the ultimate goal of unification.

Abstract
The 'Korean Yudo' in overseas was initiated in Switzerland in 1929 by Yudo club founded by Hanho Lee. In 1955, to get the assistance for the spread of 'Korean Yudo', Hanho Lee requested ‘Korean Yudo Association’ for demonstration teams, which organized the first Korean demonstration teams named the ‘Korean Yudo Team for Europe Tour’. In 1956, ‘Dae-Myung Yudo Club’ was founded as an attached educational institution for foreigners to teach a 'Yudo Class' to USFK at ‘Korean Yudo College’. Korean Yudo instructors put every effort to the spread of 'Korean Yudo' in the U.S. including calling Korean demonstration teams to the U.S.. Some of Korean Yudo instructors's essential work made Korean Dan be recognized by USJF, which only did Kodokan‘s Dan before, and expended their work not only in USJF but in AAU. Through their authority in AAU, they also had an influence on the joining AAU of Taekwondo. Korean instructors couldn't diffuse 'Korean Yudo', because the suzerain state of Judo was recognized as Japan through international society. However their roles in the U.S. was enough to make the impression that Korea is the nation of strong martial arts and therefore there is no denying that Korean martial arts had effect on the spread of it based on the U.S..

Abstract
In order to fully comprehend the modern history of physical education in Korea, it is necessary to understand its American counterpart. From this point of view, this article investigates the fusion of the American sports education movement and the strengthening of the ideology; muscular Christianity. The findings are as follows.
Firstly, the Muscular Christianity ideology was imported from Britain in the era after the Civil War. In addition it can be concluded that Christians involved in the 1880s evangelism and revivalism movement popularized the British bred ideology. The ideology was first introduced in the works of Charles Kingsley in the late 1850s. Literary works such as 「Tom Brown’s School Days」, 「Spirit of Times 」and media outlets such as the 「New York Times」 introduced the idea of Muscular Christianity to American Society. A pioneer of Muscular Christianity in the United States was T.W Higginson.
Secondly, the Y.M.C.A. established the link between the ideals of Muscular Christianity and sports activities. It appears that sports became a method to explore the new evangelism movement. In addition to the Y.M.C.A., the influential preacher D.L Moody became a keen supporter of the Muscular Christianity movement. After visiting the elite education facilities in Britain in the 1870s, he became aware of the active link between sports and Christianity. Thus followers of the Revivalism movement participated in the Y.M.C.A. and recognized sports to have made an invaluable contribution to the movement.
Therefore it can be concluded that Sports, muscular Christianity and the YMCA are bound together, one could not have been successful without another.

A Qualitative Study on the Soccer Coaching Experience of Youth Soccer Coaches 체육철학 : 유소년 축구지도자의 축구교실 지도체험에 관한 질적 연구
The purposes of this qualitative study was to investigate the youth soccer coaches' coaching experiences of youth soccer in Korea. All interviews were audio taped and transcribed. Transcripts were coded according to their meanings by the investigator and two professionals in qualitative research. Information from observation of the classes was also incorporated to support and interpret the interview data. Data were content-analyzed inductively and triangulated in order to maintain trustworthiness of the interpretation.
Drawing on the interpretative and evaluative analyses of the data, eight major categories regarding coaching experiences were emerged and described in Chapter IV. They included (a) extra effort to become a competent youth soccer coach, (b) emphasis on students' interest and foundation skills in soccer, (c) coaching for character development, (d) trial-error and changes in their teaching strategies, (e) satisfaction and positive attitude as a coach, (f) senior coaches as target of respect as well as conflict, (g) unsatisfactory treatment as a coaching occupation, and (h) conflicts with parents.
As these perceptions for the advancement of youth soccer are based on the youth coaches' experiences, they provide valuable guidelines for changes in relevant policies and rules. Taken together, the findings from this study extended our knowledge regarding youth soccer coaching which is a emerging trend in non-school youth sport. This study concluded with several suggestions for youth soccer and future research.

Abstract
Recent research has shed light on nationalist martyr Choi Neung-jin’s birth, life, thoughts, and achievements by using a history and theme analysis method. Around the time before and after Korea’s liberation, Choi Neung-jin was a physical education professor, administrator, and politician, and practiced and lived the principles derived from his profession and career from the national viewpoint. He studied physical education in Duke University and Springfield University. He also worked with Heungsadan (Young Korean Academy) and YMCA. Afterwards, he returned to his nation, and started off his career as a professor at the Soongshil Junior College in Pyongyang, and contributed in the popularization of modern sports. He was imprisoned by the Japanese due to the incident of Suyangdonguhoe (Cultivation Comrade Association). After the nation’s liberation, he strove to liquidate pro-Japanese personnel and emancipate his countrymen from colonial mentality and promote democracy. In the process, he became the first victim to be shot dead by the military court, as the regime engineered political plots to brand him a communist. He was a nationalist martyr.
Choi Neung-jin, as a physical education professor, was an educator fired with a nationalistic spirit opposing the colonial Japanese. He was the first Korean to introduce modern Western sports to the nation (Pyongyang). He formed a Pyongyang Soccer League, and promoted the Seoul–Pyongyang Soccer Championship. As such, he became an inspiration for nationalism, which in turn contributed to the then growing resistance to the colonial Japanese regime by way of sports.
Choi Neung-jin, as a politician, was a true ideological conservative and conscientious nationalist. He likewise strove to liquidate pro-Japanese police, led the Daegu Uprising incident, ran for an assemblyman position, conducted a campaign to invite Suh Jae-pil to become the leader of the nation, and campaigned for truce during the Korean War. As such, he pursued all these efforts for the sake of the entire nation and not just for the benefit of certain interest groups, political parties, and ideologies.

Abstract
This study is to get the essential meaning of physical education starting to find out the cue partially but contributing to the identity-thesis of physical education. The following results can be obtained by studying for the purpose of proposal presentation.
As a method of the study, a deductive inference was adopted to abstract the essential meaning of physical education. In order to trace up the essence of physical education, it was examined based on the definitive meaning. As a result of the examination through intuition, the reasoning for essence can be inferred in the sequence of ‘the physical education’, ‘physical activities’, ‘movement’, ‘physical movement and competition’. Such an inference is based on the philosophy that it can be a deductive inference provided that it is developed from large group to small groupor from a group to an individual object. Meantime, it was assumed that each of them was enough to have the essential meaning in the physical education but the competitive-physical movement is provisionally determined as the essential meaning under the judgment that the essential meaning can be raised when they become a compound word.
The competitive-physical movement is a well-known terminology but this study made a point that it should be understood as an essential meaning.
It was proposed that all the studies should be driven focused on the competitive physical movement recognizing it as a new essential meaning of physical education in order to overcome narrow-minded explanation centered science and subdivided specialization-appearance in the study of physical education. Moreover, it was found that the essence of physical education in this process lied in the process instead of consequence.
Therefore, in the future physical education study, it is obvious that the identity of physical education can be achieved in a more sound way only when their scholastic process, contents and results are funnelled into the 'competitive physical movement' in favor of us rather than sticking to the humanity and science.

Abstract
The propose of this paper is to examine the relationship between contemporary sport and human with respect to Aristotle's homonym. What is the human body? How do we explain the body as an essential point of view? Why do we suppress our bodies? What is the role of sport in this process? This study was begun from this questions. Aristotle takes a serious view of the human body as a temple that protects the soul. Also, if the body doesn't function as the in view point of homonym, we say that is no longer a body, but a body by name. It means that the function of the body is important too. However, the body in contemporary society is treated "to serve being target of ostentation", or "to serve becoming goal of victory pursuit". However nowaday's sport controls the weight of the athletes, limits the intake of food and seeks victory through strict own administration. It is going to go to the other aspect getting away from its an essence. So sport isn't sport anymore. It is Aristotle's homonym. What is sport? Originally Sport is a kind of human action derived from natural play. But Sports is viewed as a way of diet to make a human body more beautiful and it is counted as means of weight loss and making body. I hope to rethink an contemporary sports and an essence of sports in this situation. In addition to that I want to find out the rightful direction of sports through Aristotle's homonym.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among the types of leisure activity, activities of daily living(ADL) and self-esteem of the elderly, and to provide basic data for establishing the leisure policy to contribute the elderly's quality of life. We firstly set up the population as the Korean elderly who were aged over 65 and living at Seoul as of 2004. Using the systematic clustered random sampling method, total 630 subjects from original 650 were finally collected by considering the substantiality and sincerity of the answers. As for the methodology, we used the questionnaire survey method. To construct the contents of the questionnaire, we firstly referred to previous works of Chung, Kyung-hee et. al.(1998), Lee, Hu-won(1993), and Curbow & Somerfield(1991), and then constructed the relevant questionnaire items after testing the validity and reliability. To understand the individual characteristics of the subjects, the frequency analysis was used. And to investigate the relationship among the types of leisure activity, activities of daily living and self-esteem of the elderly, both the covariance analysis and multiple regression analysis were used.
The conclusions of this study were as being follows.
Firstly, among the various types of the leisure activity of the elderly, the physical activity and the sports activity showed statistically significant positive relationship with the activities of daily living. Secondly, the elderly who participated the physical activity or the sports activity had relatively higher level of self-esteem than those who participated the other types of leisure activity. Finally, it was showed that the higher the instrumental ADL, the higher the self-esteem of the elderly.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of the sport participation levels of high school students on a social characteristic formation. For the purpose of the study, the levels of sport participation divided into students' own involvement in sport activity, the degree of sport participation (i.e., frequency, duration, and intensity of sport activity), and the type of sport activity. The participants consisted of 554 female students from 8 high schools in Seoul. A questionnaire, based on the questionnaire of the Center of Educational Development(1987), was modified from the version of Park(1994), and An(2000) regarding the development of sociality. The data were analyzed by a frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and Scheffe's post-hoc test. The findings of this study were as follows:
First, the female high school students who involved in sport activity had more sense of responsibility, cooperativeness, voluntarism, sociability, and endurance than those who did not.
Second, the frequency of sport participation of high school female students had an influence on the sense of responsibility, cooperativeness, and voluntarism. Also, the intensity of sport participation of high school female students had an influence on the sense of responsibility and voluntarism. However, the duration of sport participation of high school female students did not have an influence on any senses for social characteristic advancement.
Third, the female high school students who played the team sports had higher cooperativeness than those who played the individual sports.
It was believed that this study would assist the adolescents to become competent and capable members of homes, schools, and societies and to develope desirable human relationship through sports activities.

Abstract
The effectiveness of two different cognitive learning strategies were compared on the learning and performance of a self-paced motor skill, hockey pass. Specifically, investigated was the influence of (a) non-awareness strategy, which is preplanning the movement and performing the task without conscious attention to it; and (b) five-step strategy, which includes five sub-strategies: readying, imaging, focusing, executing, and evaluating. Thirty six middle school students (male) with no experience in hockey were randomly assigned to one of three different groups (non-awareness strategy group, five-step strategy group, and control group). They performed 80 trials to learn a simulated hockey pass task in a practice session and then another 20 trials in a retention/transfer session. A target for the hockey pass task was 12m apart from a participant in the practice session and 14m apart from a participant in the retention/transfer session. Deviation scores from the center of the target were recorded. The results of the experiments indicated that participants who used the non-awareness strategy as well as participants who used the five-step strategy, performed the hockey pass task better than the participants who did not use any specific cognitive learning strategy. However, the superiority of the five-step strategy over the non-awareness strategy that results of a few research showed was not confirmed in this study.

Abstract
The normalized jerk, absolute jerk standardized relative to movement time and distance, have been accepted as the index of smoothness for evaluating the quality of movement in single- and/or planar two-joint movement. The purpose of this study was to determine if the variable of normalized jerk is appropriate as index of the movement smoothness in performing complex sport task such as chip shot in golf. We calculated the normalized jerk value of two end-points, the left wrist and the toe of club's head, and examined it's difference as function of skill level and hits/misses. Eighteen golfers, 9 experts and 9 non-experts, participated in the study. Each participant performed the chip shot at 8m distant from the hole until getting at least three hits and three misses. The results indicated the downswing of expert golfers was faster than that of non-expert golfers, but there were no differences in the swing duration between two skill levels in backswing and follow through. The normalized jerk value of left wrist was lower than that of club's head, regardless of swing phases. From the results of normalized jerk across swing phases, we confirmed expert golfers characterized the smoothness of movement in downswing among swing phases, and that the smoothness of swing in y- and z-direction was important for successful chip shot. In conclusion, we suggest that the variable of normalized jerk can be used as the index of smoothness in complex sport skill, but we should to step the process for identifying the validity of normalized jerk by the further studies.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine how fuzzy vision strategies affect the performance of the baseball batting. Four male subjects each have participated in three kinds of visual strategy tasks consisting of nine blocks of 21 batting trials. Three visual strategies consisted of two fuzzy vision conditions and one clear vision condition. Fuzzy vision strategies make low state of focused visual attention by separating a viewpoint from the release point of the pitcher, with making it blurry imaged, and have possibility to evoke the express saccade easily. The correlation analysis was employed between the number of trials and the dependent variables (hit, miss, delay response, coincident response, and premature response rate) of batting responses in the three tasks.
The results showed that: (1) In all subjects, neither the hit nor the coincident response rate has been improved in the clear vision strategy though baseball batting is practiced. Moreover, the miss and the delay response rate could not be decreased. (2) However, fuzzy vision strategies have increased the hit and coincident response rate, and decreased the delay response rate. Consequently, the performance of baseball batting has been improved in both non-experts and experts.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the developmental patterns and hierarchical structure model of children's locomotor skills. On the basis of motor development literature, it was hypothesized that mature development of skip would be dependent upon advanced locomotor skills in running, jumping, hopping, and galloping. Furthermore, bilateral coordination, strength, and dynamic balance would be related to the development of children's locomotor skills. A total of 393 male and female children age-ranged three to seven-year-old were selected from the nursery schools, kindergartens, and elementary schools in metropolitan areas. The Test of Gross Motor Development-I and the Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency were used to measure the selected physical abilities and locomotor skills for children. The result of a MANOVA and the follow-up univariate test indicated that most locomotor skills significantly developed from age three to five, except for skipping skills. The structural equation modeling revealed inadequate fit of the initial hierarchical model to the data. The modified model was reestablished by generating a latent variable and removing two locomotor skills(jump and hop). The skipping skill was significantly explained by three physical abilities, and running was significant predictors of both galloping and skipping skills. Galloping tended to contribute to determine the skipping skill. The modified hierarchical model provided a better fit to the sample data for age 3-5 children than for age 6-7 children. These results were discussed within theoretical frameworks, and future studies were suggested.

Neurophysiological Changes in Response to Different Visual Stimuli: The Effects of Choice Reaction Task 스포츠심리학 : 선택적 주의과제에서 시각자극 난이도에 따른 뇌파변화
The purpose of this study was to examine the P300 by gradually increasing the visual stimulus and the subject identification degrees to find out the reaction changes inside the information processing part of the brain. Subjects consisted of 14 University students, whose ages ranged from 21 to 26 with an average age of 21.5. The subjects were ordered to divide five circles into 3(task3), 4(task4), 5(task5), 6(task6) and 7(task7) parts. After dividing, subjects were shown an image of one of the previously divided circles and then asked to react the presented images match from one of the five circles laid out before then. Results were analyzed based on the average ranges of Fz, Cz, Pz, O1 and O2. Results showed that correct responses to magnetic pole identification in task3 was higher than task7. P300 latencies of subjects were also higher in task3 than task4, task5 and task6. Comparison of amplitude and latency ranges revealed that Fz, Cz, and Pz had high amplitude but long latencies, while O1 and O2 had low amplitude but short latencies. In addition, standard stimulus showed a higher amplitude and longer latency than target stimulus, which showed low amplitude and short latency.
In conclusion, P300 may be associated with task identification and decision making. Higher amplitudes suggest that the brain needed more cognitive effort which may have resulted in the delay of the actual condition. This study may help in understanding the relationship between the degrees of identification and the brain's cognitive process in brain neurophysiology.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of endurance training performed at 60∼70% HRmax on common carotid artery blood flow variables responses. 16male students in the sport leisure division of W university were selected as the subjects. The subjects were divided into the two groups according to random assignment : a experimental group(n=8) and a control group(n=8). For this analysis data were analyzed by employing SPSS win 10.0 program for window mean and standard deviation, three-way ANOVA with repeated measures as mixed design. The results obtained are as follows: First, A comparison between group of the left and right common carotid artery blood flow variables; the decrement of the peak blood velocity, mean blood velocity, and resistance index in the experimental group were higher than significantly in the control group at post-exercise measure time in 8weeks period of HRmax 60∼70% endurance training. Second. A comparison between treatment period of the he left and right common carotid artery blood flow variables; the increment of the peak blood velocity, mean blood velocity, pulsative index, and resistance index in the post exercise measure time were higher then in the resting.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of stretching right before performances on strength and flexibility of ballet dancers. For this purpose twelve female ballet majors were chosen to perform acute stretching of hamstring muscle for 0 second, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, and 60 seconds with 15 seconds of intervals between each stretching. And change in flexibility, peak torque, peak torque per body weight, and total work were measured by a Con-trex isokinetic dynanometer, following the performance of the subjects' stretching. The data were analyzed by one-way repeated measures ANOVA with p<.05 as the level of significance. The results are as follows : The performance of stretching caused significant decrease in the peak torque of knee flexion(p<.05). But difference in stretching duration(10 seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds) was found not to have significant influence in the peak torque of knee flexion. The performance of stretching caused significant decrease in the peak torque of knee flexion per body weight(p<.05), while difference in stretching duration(10 seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds) did not show significant difference in the peak torque of knee flexion per body weight. The performance of stretching caused significant decrease in total work of knee flexion(p<.05), yet difference in stretching duration(10 seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds) did not indicate significant difference in total work of knee flexion. Flexibility of knee flexion in each different stretching duration was not significantly different(p<.05) but showed a tendency to increase as duration increased. Based on these results, it is concluded that peak torque, peak torque per body weight, and total work were significantly decreased after acute stretching because the strength loss after acute stretching is assumed to result from the change of muscle length, muscle elasticity, and stretch reflex. On the other hand, different stretching duration(10 seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds) revealed no significant difference in strength. This is assumed to result from the fact that stretching durations were short and that there was only one muscle to be stretched. Flexibility was not significantly different in strength after acute stretching, either, and only showed a tendency to increase.

The present study is conducted with an aim to investigate the effects of the complex exercises and the aquatic exercise performed combined with physical therapy on the change of visceral fat and obesity hormone depending on the type and duration of exercise treatment. For this purpose, 15 middle-aged obese women living in I city were put to 8-weeks sessions of aerobic and muscular resistive exercise and physical therapy combined with exercise. Each 5 of them were assigned evenly to the control group, combined exercise group and exercise group combined with physical therapy. Observable variants included visceral fat area while adiponectin and resistin were selected as fat hormone for the analysis through two-way ANOVA repeated measurements of the mixed design.
The results obtained are as follows:
1. In the group that practiced exercise in aquatic exercise combined with physical therapy, visceral fat area showed a statistically significantly decreasing tendency in line with the elongated period of exercise, which stands in contrast with the combined exercises group and control group.
2. As for adiponectin hormone change in connection with obesity, secretion of adiponectin increased significantly in compliance with the extended exercise period in the group practicing exercise in aquatic exercise combined with physical therapy.
3. With regard to secretion type of resistin as fat hormone, hormone was significantly decreased in the group that practiced exercise in aquatic exercise combined with physical therapy, compared to the control and combined exercises groups as the treatment period grew longer.

Abstract
The purpose of the study was to analyze the effects two different exercise intensities, 50% and 75% of 1RM, of weight training on excess postexercise oxygen consumption (EPOC), heart rate (HR), blood lactate (La), respiratory exchange ratio (RER), and energy expenditure (EE). Eight sedentary female subjects performed eight types of weight training with an equal work volume for 2 sets of 15 repetitions at 50% of their 1RM, and 2 sets of 10 repetitions at 75% of their 1RM, respectively. HR, La, RER were measured during exercise and 5, 10, 30, and 60 minutes postexercise. EPOC was measured at intervals 0-5 min, 15-30 min, and 45-60 mins postexercise, and EE was measured during exercise. Independent t-test was used to compare the differences of HR and La during the exercise at two different intensities. Two-way repeated measures ANOVA was used to analyze the differences of EPOC, RER, HR, and La at two different exercise intensities. EPOC, RER, EE, HR, and La did now show significant differences between two intensities. However, significant differences were found within group (p<.05, p<.01, p<.001). Even no significant differences between 2 intensities were found in this study these data indicated that weight training produced energy shift towards free fatty acid (FFA) metabolism. These results supported the previous studies indicating additional energy utilization in the post exercise periods and suggest that weight training is significant to a body mass management program.

Abstract
Alpha-actinin-3 is an actin-binding protein belonging to the spectrin protein superfamily. The gene expression of ACTN3 is limited to skeletal muscle, especially Type II muscle fiber which has highly force-generating capacity. This skeletal muscle-specific gene has homozygosiy for a common nonsense mutation resulting in α-actinin-3 deficiency. This deficiency does not outcome a disease phenotype. The ACTN3, However, is highly evolutionarily conserved, showing the possibility that it is redundant in humans. Researchers have suggested that this trait is related to muscle function at the extremes of mechanical-power performance. Therefore, we examined associations between the ACTN3 single nucleotide polymorphism and mechanical-power performance. For the study, we recruited 217 sprint or power elite athletes and 673 healthy adults. The results are following; Analysis of genotyping data showed highly significant differences in genotype frequencies between the groups. Mechanical-power athletes have 6.4%~14.9% of higher frequencies of RR genotype and 7.9%~12.6% of significantly lower of XX genotype than healthy adults. Also, there is differences in allele frequencies, which result in significantly higher frequencies of 577R allele and lower of 577X allele. These results suggest ACTN3 RR genotype and 577R allele are better for mechanical-power performance rather than endurance performance.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the change of cardiorespiratory function and blood components after exercise program in high school smokers. The experimental group consisted of 10, and there were 10 in control group. During 6 weeks' period, experimental group had participated in the walking exercise program which was composed of 60-70%(HRmax) intensity activity, lasted for 30 minutes a day, took place 5 times a week. In order to compare the effects, Repeated Measure ANOVA was used.
The results were as follows; Before exercise, testing the age, height, weight and smoking career were not significantly different but same between the experimental and the control group. After exercise, VO2max and FEV1.0% were significantly increased and different. There was a little increase but no significant differences in FVC. After exercise, the increase of VO2max in the experimental group means the improvement of endurance fitness. With the increase of cardiac output, the supply of oxygen to active muscle increased.
Compared with the control group, Hematocrit, Total Cholesterol, LDL-C, COHb in the experimental group were decreased to be significantly different after exercise. After 6 weeks' exercises, Triglyceride was decreased and HDL-C was increased, but they did not show great difference.
In conclusion, the results show that the walking exercise helped high school smokers to decrease a Hematocrit, Total Cholesterol, COHb, LDL-C, and to increase VO2max and FEV1.0%.
The subjects of this study was high school smokers, so there was a limit to everyone. It is regretful not to continue this study after 6 weeks. Therefore there is a necessity for expanding the extent of target people and applying the various exercises and periods. There must be more studies afterward.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to establish relationships between perceived and actual health related fitness levels in college students. A total of 261 subjects was evaluated for their fitness levels such as cardiopulmonary endurance, low back strength, flexibility, and body mass index according to a referenced classification, which was categorized by five scales. Χ2 analyses showed that self-perceived obesity level was related to actual obesity level (p<.001). Self perception on health-related fitness was related to the actual cardiovascular endurance (p<.01) and flexibility (p<.01) for men while that was related to strength (p<.05) and flexibility (p<.001) for women. A significant correlation between self-perceived fitness and strength (p<.001) was noticed in men. On the other hand, flexibility (p<.001) was correlated to self-perceived fitness in women. The present data suggest that self-perceived fitness level without concurrent measurement may be useful for predicting the actual fitness levels. However, it has to be considered that perception in fitness level was differently shown in men and women.

Abstract
Although surgical reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is commonly performed to increase stability of the knee, persistent changes in neuromuscular function have frequently been cited as contributing to disability. This study investigated neuromuscular function in a sample of patients 12 to 28 months following reconstructive ACL operation. In addition, the effect of leg dominance on neuromuscular function was analyzed in a sample of subjects without knee injury. Ten healthy woman without knee injury and 10 patients following ACL operation participated in the study after they had been screened for neuromuscular function disorders. Premotor reaction time (PRT) of vastus medialis (VM), vastus lateralis (VL), hamstring medialis (HM), and hamstring lateralis (HL) were recorded by electromyography through the examination sudden knee eversion stress. Sensation of position were evaluated as a reproductive angle inaccuracy (RAI) in the difference between a specified angle (15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, and 75°) and the reproduction angle. Two physical therapists evaluated each subject's performance ability using a talent diagnose system (TDS Jump and TDS Flash Jump). The patients showed a significant increase in reaction time of hamstring operated legs (p<.05), systemic reaction time (TDS Flash Jump) (p<.05), and significant decrease in grounding time (TDS Jump) of operated legs (p<.05). For correlation coefficient, no statistically significant changes were found. It was confirmed that a multi function of neuromuscular had decreased though one year or more passed after ACL reconstructive operation, therefore, should be provide information that recovers a multi function of neuromuscular in rehabilitation after ACL operation.

Abstract
Elevated iron stores may or may not promote atherogenesis by increasing free radical formation and oxidative stress, but studies about effects of iron supplementation on serum lipid profile and antioxidant capacity are lacking. We investigated changes in iron status, serum lipid profile and antioxidant capacity of Kumdo trainees after iron supplementation for 6 weeks.
Twenty iron-depleted (serum ferritin < 20 g/L), nonanemic (hemoglobin > 11 g/dL) women who had participated in Kumdo received iron (iron group) or placebo (placebo group) for 6 wk in a randomized, double-blind trial (n = 10 per group).
No significant differences between the groups in baseline iron status, nutrition status and physical activities were observed. After treatment, serum iron and transferrin saturation increased significantly in the iron group (P < .01 and P < .05, respectively). Serum transferrin receptor concentrations increased significantly in the placebo group (P < .05) but not in the iron group. No significant differences between the groups in lipid profiles, except for Serum HDL-C level which decreased significantly in the iron group (P < .05) were observed. TBARS decreased significantly in the iron group (P < .05)

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of techniques used by Korean, Chinese, japanese elite male long jumpers in takeoff and flight phase and to provide the data for improving jumper's techniques and developing abilities. The subjects of this study were four finalists who participated in the Asian Games held in Pusan in 2002. Resulting kinematic data were obtained from seven jumps using three digital video cameras filmed at 60Hz.
The conclusions were as follows;
1. At touchdown of the board it was efficient that the body angle was so small as -21° and the trunk was stood nearly upright. Because such movement made to minimize the loss in horizontal velocity during takeoff phase, and made to maximize the gain in vertical velocity at launch.
2. At the top of flight phase the trunk was leaned backward a little(about -12°) and was in balance by using the lower limbs. Therefore such movement made necessary preparations for landing even though jumpers used the hang style.
3. At touchdown of the board when jumpers made the trunk stand upright, the angle of inclination in trunk was smaller in flight phase. Hence for the stable landing jumpers should make the trunk stand nearly upright at touchdown of the board.

It was classified into three different walking speed(0.75m/s, 1.25m/s, 1.75m/s). The walking performances were filmed by high speed video camera and the ground reaction force was measured by the force platform-#B30210 Type 4060A which made by Bertec company with collecting frequency of 600Hz. EMG signal was gained by ME3000P8 Measurement Unit. Tibialis anterior(TA), Gastrocnemius medial head(GM), Gastrocnemius lateral head(GL), Soleus(SO) were selected for the dorsiflexion and plantarflexion of the ankle joint. The result of this study were as follows:
1. The moment of ankle joint was showed the significant difference for LTO, LHC, MDF and MPF, and knee joint was showed the significant difference for LHC and MF, and hip joint was showed the significant difference for RTO, LHU and ME along the walking speed. 2. The ground reaction force for X(medial-lateral side)direction was showed no significant difference along the walking speed. The ground reaction force for Y(anterior-posterior)direction was showed the significant difference for LTO, RHU and the braking force Fy1 and the progression force Fy2, and Z(vertical)direction was showed the significant difference for LTO, LHC, Fz1 and Fz2 along the walking speed. 3. TA was showed about 2-3 times muscle activity at the 1.75m/s than 1.25m/s in some phases. And it was showed the similar muscle activity between the 0.75m/s and 1.25m/s but, showed a little much muscle activity in the 0.75m/s. GM was showed about 2-3 times muscle activity in the 1.75m/s than 1.25m/s, and even much muscle activity at the 0.75m/s than 1.25m/s in some phases. GL was showed increasing pattern of muscle activity specially in the initial swing phase as the walking speed increased. SO was showed about 3 times muscle activity in the 1.75m/s than 1.25m/s during the plantarflexion of ankle joint. It was showed the similar muscle activity between the 0.75m/s and 1.25m/s but, showed a little much muscle activity in the 1.25m/s.

Abstract
The purpose of this study is helps to make full use for perfect performance by grasping the defects of Belle piked motion performed by athlete Yang, Tae-young. For this, the study analyzed kinematical variables through Belle piked motions performed at the first selection competition(1st trial) and final selection competition(2nd trial) for the dispatch to the 28th Athens Olympic Games using the three-dimensional cinematographical method with a high-speed video camera, and obtained the following results.
1. It was indicated that the flight time during the Belle piked motion performance, it was the same with 0.667 second in the 1st and 2nd trials, but the giant swing was longer in the 2nd trial as 0.716 second than that in the 1st trial.
2. Also it was indicated that the 2nd trial movements showed more magnificent shapes than those of the 1st trial by performing giant swing of large circles, increase of release and flight height, salto from knee angle extended close to the straight line, regrasp movement from extended hip joint.
3. It was indicated that Tap timing was a little slower in the 2nd trial than that in the 1st trial, and Tap instant horizontal velocity rapidly proceeded forward, and returned backward at the moment of release from the bar, and its vertical velocity of up swing phase was rapid.
4. It was indicated that extending shoulder joint and hip joint and pushing out the body, and making a giant swing, and a dynamic down swing movement by horizontal velocity rise, had a better effect on vertical velocity rise of up swing phase than swing movement going down crouching the body and dependent on Tap.
5. And it was indicated that at Tap swing, performing a short and brief Tap movement shortening the flexion and extension width prevented hands from missing at the lower part of plumb of a giant swing, and controlled the bodily horizontal deviation by the horizontal velocity rise.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify the kinematic characteristics of backhand stroke using the single hand and both hands by analyzing their kinematic factors, accuracy and ball speed using the 3-dimensional image analysis of single-hand backhand stroke and both-hand backhand stroke and identify the favorable backhand stroke method in single-hand and both-hand backhand strokes. For this purpose, this study attempted to conduct a comparative analysis for six male high school tennis players. As a result, it was found that the group of the single-hand backhand stroke was longer at the phases of backswing, impact and follow-through than the both-hand backhand stroke. At the phases of backswing and impact in the speed of the racket, the both-hand backstroke group was faster in the directions of 'X' and 'Y' than the single-hand backstroke group. The single-hand backhand group was shown to be faster in a 'Y' direction. At the phase of follow-through, the single-hand backhand stroke group was shown to be faster in the directions of 'X' and 'Z'. The both-hand backstroke group was found to be faster in a direction of 'Y'. The single-hand backhand stroke group was found to have the faster speed of the racket at the time of impact. The both-hand backhand group was found to be faster in the directions of 'X' and 'Y'. The both-hand backhand stroke group showed a greater change in the rotational angle of the shoulder than the single-hand backhand stroke group at the phases of backswing, impact and follow-through. The single-hand backhand stroke group showed the greater rotational angle of the thigh at the time of backswing. The both-hand backhand stroke group showed a greater change in the rotational angle of the thigh at the phases of impact and follow-through. The single-hand backhand stroke group showed the greater angle of the wrist than the both-hand backhand stroke group at the time of impact. And it was found that there was no significant difference in accuracy and ball speed between both groups of single-hand and both-hand backhand stroke on the down-the-line and the cross.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the walking pole on the lower limb muscles. Fourteen subjects performed walking exercise at a cadence of 110 beats/min, without pole, with one pole, and with two poles, respectively. For each variable, a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to determine whether there were significant differences among the three types of walking. When a significant difference was found in walking type, post hoc analyses were performed using the tukey procedure. A confidence level of p < .05 was used to determine statistical significance.
The results showed that significant changes in averaged IEMG values occurred with walking with one pole in the vastus medialis and the lateral gastrocnemius during the IDLS phase, and in the lateral gastrocnemius during the TDLS phase. During the TDLS phase, walking with two poles produced a significantly lower Averaged IEMG values than normal walking in the medial gastrocnemius. The results also found that the peak IEMG activity of the tibialis anterior and the lateral gastrocnemius during ISLS phase for walking with one pole and two poles was significantly lower than the corresponding values in the normal walking, while the walking with one pole and two poles exhibited a significant difference with the normal walking in the medial and lateral gastrocnemius muscles during TDLS phase.
In general, the walking with pole influenced the average IEMG and Peak IEMG values of most triceps surae. The use of walking poles alleviated some stress from the ankle joint and allowed reduced activity in triceps surae. This reductions seen walking with poles compared with the normal walking were caused primarily by the force applied to the pole before and after heel strike. It is concluded that walking poles do not seem to exert a more expressive influence in the knee joint than in the ankle joint. This study suggest that further research is necessary to determine the effectiveness of walking poles on the EMG activity of leg muscles during walking on the ramp. These data also serve as a guide for clinicians when considering incorporation of walking poles into patient management.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of intrasubject repeatability on the kinematic variables during different skill levels of golf swing. 33 subjects (skilled: 19, unskilled: 14) performed each 10 swings with using a iron (number 7) and a driver. FastTrak electromagnetic tracking system (Polheus Inc., Colchester, VT) was used to collect the kinematic data in real time. We analyzed the time to backswing and downswing, wrist release point, head lift to backswing and downswing, hip sway to backswing and downswing, hip and shoulder rotational angle, x-factor, and hip and shoulder rotational velocity during impact. The statistical analysis was used with Internal Consistency Reliability and two-way mixed ANOVA to get Internal Consistency Constant(ICC). The unskilled subjects showed less consistency in the time to backswing and wrist release point. Specially, the low consistency was found for the wrist release point with using a driver while the unskilled subjects performed. The consistency of the wrist release point is the most important problem to improve golf skill for unskilled subjects. The hip sway showed relatively less consistency while the unskilled subjects performed. In order to increase the consistency of the hip sway, resistance training was necessary to improve stability of the lower extremity. The swing consistency is less related with the range of motion and the rotational velocity of joint. It is more related with time variable such as the timing of movement.

Abstract
The focus clubs of this study were Hitel Football club on the BBS(Bulletin Board System) and the 'Grandbleu' which is the football supporters club association of Suwon Samsung FC. These samples were selected by the typical model sampling method. The data was obtained by depth-interview, participant-observation, e-mail, internet homepage, video recoding, and articles. The analysis method was used by conversation analysis. The Korean fanatical football fans made their community, Hitel Football club, in 1993. Therefore they could communicate each other and hold the information on the football supporters culture. In the meantime, they had been getting the information from domestic TV programs and Japanese satellite broadcasting until early 1990s. In 1995, they for the first time met each other at the Dong Dae Moon stadium to watch professional football games. At that time they performed supporting action like European or South American supporters. After mid 1990s, they got the information from several travelers to overseas countries and direct contact with Japanese supporters. In 1996, real Korean supporters club, Suwon Samsung FC supporters club 'Wings', was organized. After Wings' successful organization, other supporters clubs and Korean national supporters club 'Red Devils' were organized. After September, 1997, Korean supporters culture were spread to the citizens by the mass media. After late 1990s, Korean supporters learned overseas supporters culture and communicated each other on the internet.

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to explore the nature and basic structure of Teyyam, which is not only the most ancient Indian ritual but also India's most ancient art form. All the forms and contents of Indian traditional arts, whether ceremonial or artistic, trace their origin to the Teyyam. Therefore, this study, I think, I will be helpful to understand the nature and characters of Indian traditional performing arts. I will argue that in Teyyam religious practice and artistic performance are harmonized by the settings of performance - music, tools, make-up and dancing style and structure. With the use of its settings, the religious part and artistic part of Teyyam can be compounded or divided.
Teyyam, a form of religious dance performance prevalent in India, is performed as part of local religious festivals and in temple. The teyyam evokes and manipulates its powerful symbols to exercise shanmanic and magical efficacy and to entertain its audiences, both human and its divine
Each teyyam deity is actually incarnated at least twice in the course of a festival, the two phases marked by different costume-forms which are donned successively by the same individual performer who has been dedicated to that particular god in the earlier ceremonies.
The first phase is a sort of prelude to the main, fully costumed teyyam performance, in which the dancer takes on one of two types of costume, determined by the deity he is to perform. The simpler of the two forms, called tottam and vellattam.
This study is based mainly on the field-work, conducted in January, 2005 at kerala, Malabar in India. Therefore this study concentrates on teyyam of kannur.

Abstract
Children's 'Chumnori' doesn't mean skillful dances, but, as a broad sense, it should denote 'the children's play of rhythmical expressive activities' as the play form which is included in human plays. In other words, as the play of children founded on amusement, 'Chumnori', which is the most human gesture derived from children's instinct, is the physical activities accompanied with rhythm, the applied field based on the fundamental gestures of activities, and the expressive activities which include all kinds of dances that children can perform.
As a research method, this dissertation conducts the qualitative interview, nominating 4 kindergarten teachers, 4 physical fitness teachers of children, and 3 teachers who instruct students in the cultural center and the dance class of children as the purposeful sampling. This dissertation synthesizes 'the demand issue about application to the educational field' as the following: namely, first, the issue on the basic direction for the application to the educational field, second, the issue on the educational contents of Chumnori, third, the issue on the leader education, and forth, the issue on facilities and tools.

Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to examine the perspectives on elementary school teachers' school-based culture and arts education in Korea. A total of 924 elementary school teachers (male=192, female=732) completed an open-ended questionnaire developed by the researchers. For teachers, the most efficient teaching strategies on arts education in school were related to teaching by arts specialists and enhancing expertise, followed by improvement of teaching-learning situation. In after-school arts-related activity, the most important reforms were related to teachers' overload on sundry duties and no discretion(23.01%). In terms of activating school-based arts program in elementary school, the most important plan for a reform were in exclusive responsibility of a subject(42.33%) and improvement of school facilities(14.47%).

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify the essence of dance by looking into the unique aspects and the properties of dance through a phenomenological approach to dance. Merleau-ponty‘s mind-body monism puts the human body as the subject of perception to the center and therefore gives a great weight for dance which is expressed by body itself to get close to the world, its existence. Accordingly, in Merleau-ponty‘s philosophy, body existence is a basic transcendence already directed to something, and a totality that exists in occlusion with and necessarily accompanies spatiality and temporality interacting with virtual force that is a dynamic energy produced from motions, and the background of essentiality that is not separately explained.
Dancing is to symbolically express the inner experiences and the expression of virtual force through symbols. It means that, if motions by virtual force are made through symbols, then, the motions are the thought itself.
This applies a logic that dance is the thought. Moreover, it has a positive significance that can be magnified to that dancing exists specially and proudly in the midst of many other arts, and that it is the very 'dance' that does not extract the value of art from philosophy but rather find the fundamental problems of philosophy in the arts. Therefore, this study can give us a chance to provide information to the philosophers who have just overlooked to address about dance.

Abstract
This study aims to understand the meaning of dnacer's body. To achieve this purpose, I took the ethnographic approach focusing on dancer's daily life and his/her viewpoint. In order to do that I selected a dance department of Cheongrok University (a pseudonym) as a field of my study and collected related data and made a participating- observational study from March to August in 2004. As a result, I came to the following propositions through analyzing data from the interviews with eight main informants.
A dancer acquires an appropriate way of body adjustment to a culture as he/she is acquainted with carious dance cultures related to a body. In the course of doing that, the meanings of a body turn out to be 'role-identity making,' 'the foundation for self-reflection,' 'transfer to narcissism,' and 'cultural restriction and adaptation.'

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine effects of regular participation in dance activities on young girls mood state and self-esteem.For the purpose, this researcher surveyed total 435 middle and high school girls(217 participants and 218 non-participants) to know whether they participated in dance activities regularly differences in mood state and self-esteem among them in accordance with their school level. As a result, the researcher could get significant results as follows.
First, young girls participation in dance activities is effective in reducing their negative mood states such as depression, anger, anxiety and confusion.
Second, young girls participation in dance activities promotes their positive self-esteem and reduces their negative self-esteem
Third, young girls self-esteem are correlated with their mood state. Whether such correlation is static or non-static depends on whether those girls participate in dance activities or not.
In conclusion, regular participation in dance activities reduces young girls negative mood and promotes their positive self-esteem. However, it is still needed to make further analyses to know why such participation promotes self-esteem, what type of dance is more effective, what physical strength of dance is most effective and what relations exist between self-esteem and mood state. These should be further dealt with through subsequent studies.

Abstract
This study is aimed to investigate into the sexuality of women attested in popular dances in Korea including social dances and club dances which were in vogue in the Korean society late in the 20th century or between the 1950s and the 1990s, from the perspective of feminism sexual politics. To do that, the author examined the flow of feminism sexual politics and considered the formation of women's identity during the prevalence of popular dances and the progress in the formation of arguments about dances from the standpoint of sexual politics, with a view to determine the reasons for a prejudice against dances in the Korean society.
This study found that a craze for dances and a fever of cabaret dances in the 1950s and 1960s were no more than women's desperate struggle to find a deviatory and carnival-style space where they could be freed from all the social regulations and rules in their patriarchical society. However, the male-oriented modern society of Korea which was largely inclined towards Confucian traditions put dances on a par with women's sexual deviation based on discussions about sexual crisis and regarded dances as sexual perversion, which aversely affected the recognition of dances for about 30 years. While on the contrary, a new generation emerged as the main group of consumers in the 1980s when economy was stabilized and in the 1990s when Korea was transited into a post-modern society. Since then, public cultures became more activated and fresh enthusiasm for dances was characterized by the resistant traits of new generation cultures which made undiscriminative attack on the existing cultures. New generation women prefer a reasonable lifestyle and oppose the Confucian morals' suppression on individuality and plurality. They redefine their body as an object to be pleased and satisfied, not as an abnormal and pathological essence. Such a propensity was instigated by the social arguments that theorize women's sexual desires and cravings and reinterpret women's sexuality and sexual love as autonomous and active after sexually radical feminists separated sex and pleasure from sexual discrimination. Now it is evident that dances are not any longer a deviation which leads to sexual perversion but an opportunity to establish their new identity which rejects and even threatens to overthrow the existing formalities.

Abstract
Poeticdance is a form of an art which expresses poetic spirit of modern art and figuration technique quoted in the original poem through dance. That is, by maximizing the possibility that human body can be altered into a symbolic sign(code), and by quoting lighting, sound, stage setting into the figuration technique, poeticdance tries to create a dance which can communicate/understand with the modern poetry. Especially, it tries to seek the possibility of putting forms of expressions such as poetic spirit of modern art, metaphor, symbolism and allegory onto the stage.
Here the poem "Intelligentiza.2" written by Geon-Cheong Lee is created into a poeticdance. The procedures and methods are presented and have reached to the following conclusion. In "Intelligentiza.2", solitude(loneliness), lynch carried out through a separated BOX, use of not working microphone and so on shows self-suffering in modern society.
In the work "Intelligentiza.2", desert with scattered sawdust, group dance in the dust, cactus used as stage properties, shadowed space of cactus all show despair and corruption of the reality. The dancers showing alignment in such a reality may be an allegory of the reality which reveal the corruption of the modern society.
Also, it is decided that the text poem in the poeticdance should be structuralized by poetic equipment which have high implicitness of the poetic diction and tension, image or metaphor(figuration) symbol or allegory. It is proved that poeticdance based on a modern poem as the text is a possible art which can combine immediacy of visual art and stage effect.

Abstract
The present study has the purpose of examining the relationship between the four phases of constitution and health-related physical fitness in a try to provide basic data for improving quality of life for the contemporaries. For this purpose, a survey was conducted to 474 male and female college students and the replies collected from them were put to statistical analysis to investigate their interrelation, which resulted as follows:
1. As for distribution of 4 categories of constitution by sex, Soyang(small and positive) persons and Taeeum(big and negative) persons accounted for a prevalent portion among the surveyed compared to Soeum(small and negative) persons, without statistical difference between sexes though.
2. A significant difference was found between sexes and four phases of constitution in %fat, LBM and body fat mass(p<.05) but there was a significant difference only between sexes in muscular strength, muscle endurance and cardiovascular endurance(p<.05), while no difference between sexes and four phases of constitution was confirmed as far as flexibility and WHR are concerned.
3. Relationship of Four Categories of Physical Constitution and Shape with Health-related Physical Fitness was found out that body fat mass and WHR as elements of body composition of health-related physical fitness have significant influence on four phases of constitution(p<.05) while other elements have not.
The findings of this study strongly imply that Je-Ma Lee's four phases of constitution, in spite of its contribution to some extent to classifying physical constitution of Koreans, have failed to fully reflect their association with health-related physical fitness of contemporaries because the questionnaires of QSCCII did not contain the constitutes of contemporary physical characters.
Key Words

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 8weeks of plyometric training on the muscular strength and power of the lower extremity in athletic girls who play basketball (aged 16.4±2.4 year). 14 subjects were divided into the control group(n=7) and the plyometric group(n=7). The control group maintained their usual activities and the plyometic group participated in the program that was designed to load the lower extremities. The strength by isokenetic dynamometry and power by Wingate were assessed at baseline and 8weeks. ANCOVA revealed significant differences between groups for the strength and the power. Analysis of covariance and paired t-test were used to analyze the data and the results were as follows.
The muscular strength and power were different between the groups. there showed a significant difference between pre and post training(p<.001). The plyometric training showed greater improve ment than control training on the muscular strength and power. The trend observed in the strength and power between the groups suggest that plyometric training continued over a longer period of time may increase knee extensor strength. The results of this experiment show that plyometric training effects isokinetic muscular function. The reason is plyometric training increases our body's strength and the power. In conclusion, Plyometric training is an effective method to maintain basketball athletics' performance.
